Alliance of Valiant Arms

Alliance of Valiant Arms (Korean: 아바) (abbreviated to A.V.A) is a free online First Person Shooter developed by REDDUCK and distributed by Neowiz.[3] The game was released on October 23, 2007.

On June 2, 2009, it was announced that ijji acquired A.V.A for North American and Europe audiences, scheduled for a closed-beta release September 23, 2009. The open-beta began on October 14, 2009. The official live release was on Nov 11, 2009. [4]

Gameplay


A.V.A is based on a fictional war between the EU(European Union) and the NRF(Neo Russia Federation). Gameplay is very similar to many other online FPS, weapons are bought using in-game currency in the store menu. From the store menu, purchases of an assortment of weapons, attachments, armor, helmets and skill upgrades can be made. All of these have a meter which lowers as they are used more in-game.
Audio

A.V.A features a radio chat system, similar to other FPS. Voice commands are context sensitive. The PC's voice tone changes depending on the PC's remaining HP and the situation the PC is currently in. For example, a voice commands usually have a normal tone, but when in a firefight the PC character will start to yell them. Also, if a teammate dies while near another ally, that ally will shout, phrases such as "The Commander's been hit!", if the commander is shot and dies. Characters will also say when they are throwing a grenade or reloading. Players can choose between side-specific voices (EU will speak English in radio messages, while the NRF will speak Russian) or the localized voices. Audio language can be changed in the options, from default English/Russian to the region's language that the game is localized in.
Weapons

Weapons are able to be customized by a variety of attachments that can be bought from the store menu, such as PEQ-2 systems, silencers, grips and scopes. However, not all weapons can be equipped with certain attachments. Silencers can only be used on Submachine guns, and some handguns. Assault rifles and Sub-machine guns may have laser sights and scopes if they have a Picatinny rail system. Certain weapons also need to be converted to support rails, for a small cost. Snipers can have scopes with higher levels of zoom. New attachments, and various types of equipment are expanded upon are added during monthly updates.
Game modes

* Annihilation - 80-180 points: Essentially team deathmatch, the EU and NRF compete for the most kills before the time limit or score limit is reached. The winning team is based on who has the most points at the end of the round.
* Demolition - 6-8 rounds: In this mode the EU must plant a C4 bomb in one of the two designated bomb sites before time runs out. The NRF must defend these bomb sites.Again the two teams may also eliminate one another for a win, but if the EU plant the bomb the NRF must defuse it before they can win.
* Convoy - 6-8 rounds: A nuclear suitcase is guarded by the NRF on the map, the EU must find and bring it back to their spawn before time runs out. The two teams may also eliminate one another for a win.
* Escort - 2 Rounds: In escort, the EU protect a tank moving through the map as the NRF use Rocket-propelled grenade's stored in lockers across the map to stop the tank from moving. The tank must reach the end of the map before time runs out. Along the way there are checkpoints in which the EU will spawn at once the tank has reached them. One RPG hit slows the tank down, two disable it. Once the tank has been disabled, the EU can repair it, and it will continue moving. At the end of the first round, the players switch teams and sides.
* Free For all - 30-90 Kills: Newly added game type in mid-February 2008. This is a game type in which the objective is to kill anyone, until the set amount of kills has been reached. There are health-pack stations scattered across the maps which refill the health bar but, there is no way repair the armor. FFA was released with two demolition maps redone for Free for all. An SMG the PP-2000 was released with this as well. Currently in the Korean version only.
* Suppression - 5-15 rounds: Up to four human EU players must survive streams of computer controlled NRF soldiers who drop health or ammunition upon death. The human players also have a limited number of lives per round. Currently in the Korean version only.
* Domination - 1 round: EU and NRF teams must capture the command post located in the center of the map and to occupy it for a period of time to win. Currently in the Korean Version only.
* Survival - The EU team made of up to four members, have only one life to kill as many computer controlled enemies as possible. Enemies drop either health or ammunition upon death and get progressively skilled as time goes on. Currently in the Korean version only.
* Escape - The EU team must kill a set amount of prisoners. Then proceed to the underground escape door while battling their way through many prisoners. Then unlock various doors, and plant C4.

Synopsis



In 2009, 11 Republics of Commonwealth of Independent States which were once scattered into pieces with a fall of former Soviet Union, comes together for reintegration under the leadership of the president of Russia - 'Vladimir Mashkov', a conservative ultranationalist. On the anniversary of national founding day of Soviet Union (December 30th), great empire of NRF (Neo Russia Federation) comes to life with its territory occupying 1/6 of earth's land surface and having 3rd largest population in the world after China and India.

Mashkov revives Warsaw Pact under the cause of protecting the Eastern Europe's sovereignty from unjustifiable interventions of US and EU. Eastern Europe countries suffering from great changes permeating in with an introduction of capitalism accepts this treaty thinking that this may be a new

opportunity. Some countries opposing the pact had no choice but to let in NRF's troops into their territory. During this time, power of military gets overwhelming and thus starts to look for something or someone to let out this uncontrollable power. Mashkov in search of targets to gush out this massive power to relieve ever worsening internal complications finally turns his attention to the Black Sea, strategically important area connecting Southeast Europe and Asia. This decision did not meet just someone to bully around, but implied more barrels of oil to keep his great empire running. As a result, democracy falls apart in some Middle East countries and new pro-NRF government starts appearing.

EU, concerned about NRF's rapid expansion, requested immediate evacuation of NRF troops from Eastern Europe and to stop intervention in Middle East countries through all diplomatic channels but Mashkov ignores it. In addition, non EU members plus poor Southern Europe and North Africa countries, those which have been discriminated even though they were members of EU, demonstrated supportive position for NRF with high expectations on this new order in Europe. This extremely fast growth of NRF starts to cast dark clouds that may possible swallow entire Europe. Switzerland and Austria quickly declares neutrality in hopes to survive this gloomy period in Europe.

In January of 2011, as all political and economical approaches failed, EU forces with troops from Germany, France, England and Northern Europe lights up a fire of war by attacking NRF troop stationed in Poland. This was the beginning of never ending Europe War. NRF forces in hunger of war retaliated with great force and EU had to retreat from Poland after suffering substantial loss. NRF's retaliation did not end, rather, they crossed the border of Germany with great number of troops. EU forces tried to stop NRF's troops flooding in from the East but nothing could stop them. NRF comes to occupy entire Germany and even Eastern area of France and maintains aggressive march to completely eliminate key members of EU.



NRF, while attacking EU, carries on a negotiation with China and requests to restrain armed intervention by US in return of oil resources distribution in Middle East. US being restrained by China gets hands tied down, disabling active participation in Europe War. However, China feels threatened by this shocking growth of NRF and suddenly changes its position. New wind starts to blow from the west and Zephyr brings US soldiers with her.

Pillar of the team - Rifle Man



Description
Universal soldier for all kinds of operations. Can join in under any battle status. This class is more than capable for all types combats. Can employ wide range of variable strategies.
Characteristics
Uses assault rifles for main weapon. High defense rate. Master of grenades.
Relativity
Weak against Point Man when in close range and weak against Sniper when in long range, but expert skills and experience will bring victory in the end.
Skills
Can learn skills to enhance main weapon, grenade usage, and defense rate for increased survival rate.

Master of close-range combats - Point Man



Description
Highly mobile class specialized for close range assaults. Very effective when attacking enemy troops from behind or when scouting
Characteristics
Uses SMGs for main weapon. Very high movement speed. Good for gathering overall combat situation.
Relativity
Very strong when in close range but quickly falls weak when there's some distance.
Skills
Can learn combat situation related skills, movement skills helpful in scout operations and in close range combats, and skills to increase training levels of knife and SMG.

Never to be seen back support - Sniper


Description
Capable of effective attack in far distance. Suitable for defending certain area or supporting main attack force with covering fire.
Characteristics
Uses sniper rifles for main weapon. Skilled use of secondary weapon covers up for abilities lacking in close range combats.
Relativity
Very weak when in close range but can cause substantial damage with great accuracy from distance.
Skills
Can learn skills to enhance SR usage, and secondary weapons related skills for improved survival rate.
