As of today, Der Kessel is now available, quite suitably and as planned, its also the 64th anniversary of the battle.
Der Kessel was a pocket created by a Russian pincer movement that encircled about 250,000 German and Romanian soldiers. In this mod as Axis, you are dropping into a very precarious position. Your only 2 supply routes are the Pitomik and Gumrak Airfields. The supply dumps are quite literally the front line. The Germans will have to fight to live from day one, throughout the entire campaign. As the Russians, you will enjoy easy supply routes that will keep your armour pressing down on the Germans.
Der Kessel features 44 never before seen maps. All winter based and with a severe amount of battle debris covering every each map. The deep snow and destruction limits your movement as either side. LOS is also severly limited in some places, your men and equipment will have to get extremely close to engage. The snow, and the mens uniforms blend in nicely among all the debris, if you are not careful, you may leave men behind, use your mini map! The Russian battle groups have the powerful Katyusha rocket trucks, KV-1s and T-34s. The Germans have a wide assortment of Stugs, many Panzer versions and the 88mm ATG. There is hope for the Germans! Elite infantry, well armed for anti tank roles are available for both sides.
Artillery and mortar strikes are extrenely powerful. From watching them kill troops, they are equally or more powerful than regular CC5 naval strikes. Combined with the availability of 12.5cm mortars and Katyushas battles can be extremely costly. Some maps even have large explosive areas to add to the carnage. The individual map section included a full size preview of every map. 2 veteran submods and 1 "what if" submod will be available soon. The Strategic Map Guide is also under construction and will be available within a couple days.

2K and Firefly Studios announced on 2nd October 2006 that Stronghold Legends had gone gold master and would be available in Europe on Friday 13th October and North America on 23rd October 2006. A Stronghold Legends Special Edition contains a bonus Legends Trail as well as exclusive concept art drawings and paintings. The Special Edition is available at selected outlets.

Demo Released for Stronghold Legends
We have a new forum set up for discussion of the upcoming Stronghold Legends realease, the sequel to Stronghold 2. And just in time it seems, as a demo for Stronghold Legends is now available from multiple sites on the net. Word is the demo includes a tutorial and a full skirmish level, plus showcases the new "King of the Hill" mode.
Description: The demo contains the tutorial and a full skirmish level - playable from 3 positions in 3 difficulty levels. All 3 combatants are evil - the player has access to most of the building types, half the regular troop types and giant bats. He will fight against Vlad who (also) has creepers and dragons and Mordred who has werewolves and stake hurlers. The demo also showcases the new ‘King of the Hill’ mode.
