From my own opinion, it's best if english become our second language, means indonesians language still becoming our primary language at speaking...
Actually, we knew that some school/area/etc in indonesia recently claimed that they's implemented english as their second language at communicating... But this made the progress goes on only about just a slight difference before we heard about this claim, why? Because their lack of commitment to do as they claimed.....
The problem is, how to make indonesians people cooperate to understand that english language nowadays is truly needed, especially it's now globalization era.
We actually got many idea, we've tried to implement it, but we don't know how to maintain it, how's it?
i disagree wih that IDEA, why you don't change the topic,
Indonesian language as international language
i think it is impossible
because many people of indonesia still uneducated :(
and i want to ask
why is there no 'Mandarin' language in Indonesia ? and why is Malaysia also has Mandarin language?
and the schools at malaysia also have mandarin lesson
why in Indonesia it doesn't have? except 'Sekolah Swasta' ?
That's not possible if we make english as the first language in indonesia, because still there are some people that that understand english at all....that will be difficult for him/her....HOW can we talk with him/her if they dont understand what we are talking.....
i think its possible, because indonesian language is not the pure language of the people in indonesia, like me, i speak minang, and then i learn to speak indonesian, this case is same if i learn english...so i have conclusion its possible
I'll have to agree to disagree about the notion. Indonesian language was, is and always will be our national language.
Of course there are other more tribal and regional languages present in various areas and provinces of Indonesia, and i agree that these languages should be or at least be considered into the current curriculum. Both for Government or Private schools.
The reason is, for me anyway feel free to agree or disagree, the Indonesian language is an altered form of the Malayan language both from internal influences such as our own diverse language between people, also from external influences from foreign languages.
I also support the inclusion of more foreign language into our national curriculum, such as the Mandarin language. Whether or not I'm of a chinese heritage is irrelevant in my opinions, because i personally think that besides English, the Mandarin, Japanese and Latin language are quite widely used throughout the globe and it's important that we're able to choose our second or third tongue.
Actually, I find it interesting if our nation language is shifted from Indonesian to English. Most of the other part of SE Asia who has English as it's main language are moving up in the world. Let's say Singapore and Malaysia and they have one thing in common, they are a part of British Commonwealth, which nurtured their country to be what they are now. Oh how I wished British ruled us before the Netherlands and Japs.
We are gifted with a flexible tongue, I am pretty sure we can speak English just as good as they are, or any other language in fact. Therefore utilizing them is what we haven't done and English has been underrated by many of my college friends since our national exam wasn't that hard.
In this era of globalization, and the upcoming AFTA (Asian Free Trade Area), English would be a pivotal step to have by many of ours. You don't want to be looked down upon by those Investors when they get here, knowing you can't speak any other language other than your native and you'll end up being a security guard or cleaning service. They would take away our dignity and replace all their staffs with other people around the world who can speak English better than us, but not necessarily smarter. Sad isn't it?
Can't. Countless people in Indonesia can't even speak English neither even understand it. If it happened, it'd be just total mess.
if indonesia's national language become english ?? Hey its great !!
In my opinion if it happen all of indonesia will be more developt cause indonesian people interaction and corporate with any one in this world .. International's languanges is english right ??
^sadly it isn't going to be realized when most people are still lazy haha..
language doesn't change a country, the people does.
changing our language would be simple if the people would stop lazying around and actually study haha
So bad .. We must change dude , english is just comunication tool which help us to be better .. Haahaha
I'm agree with you .. Most of indonesian people are lazy include me LOL
i think impossible... because indonesian people born with indonesian languange
Its a good idea if you want to welcome the globalize era in the future.
But still, we must preserve Indonesian language not to extinct.
it's hard to make it if ya consider how many culture in indonesia. yet how bout the old people. as u know they a little old fashioned/"kolot".
