Milito: "Great to win such a difficult game"

MILAN - Diego Milito blasted home a penalty against AC Milan to notch his first competitive goal for the Nerazzurri. "I'm very happy, I'm very pleased to have scored in my first Milan derby," said the Argentine forward.

"It was very good to win such a difficult derby. I have to thank the coach because he puts his faith in me every day. I'm happy that I won both Genoa derbies last year and now my first in Milan."

Eto'o: "The perfect match"

MILAN - On the eve of the Milan derby, Samuel Eto'o said that Inter would win but he wouldn't score.

"It was the perfect match," the Cameroonian said on Inter Channel after the 4-0 win. "It's more important to win than play well. But it's even more important for the team to play well and win than my individual performance.

"Compliments to Wesley on his first match. He's a player of great quality and we're lucky to have him. The boss did well to put him behind the strikers.

"The atmosphere at the stadium was incredible. The derby was unique for me. I hope we can always play like we did tonight. If we do, our fans will certainly be happy."

Stankovic: "An unforgettable evening"

MILAN - Dejan Stankovic slotted into a new holding midfield role against AC Milan and scored an incredible goal to complete Inter's 4-0 rout.

"I'm happy about the goal, but most of all I'm happy with the team's performance - it was great," the Serbian told Inter Channel. "The reaction we gave in the first half, scoring the first goal, then the penalty and then Maicon's goal which was beautiful... And then I put the icing on the cake. It was an unforgettable evening for everyone.

"In my position in front of the defence there's a lot of responsibility but a lot of enjoyment too. You have to be concentrated and man mark in defence. I had to do a job on Ronaldinho tonight and I had to help the central defenders. You touch the ball a lot, it's nice to play in this position.

"Compliments to Sneijder. To arrive the day before the derby and give a performance like this... There's a lot of quality in his feet. In his left foot and his right foot, and he had the support of the strikers, the midfielders, everyone. When a player brings in quality and competition it's good for everyone. It means that we all do a lot more in training and in matches. Having a team like this is a dream, we have to pay our compliments to the president."

Inter face Parma at home after the international break, and then it's Barcelona at the Meazza in Matchday 1 of the Champions League. "If I have to choose, it's better to play the first European match at home," said Stankovic.

Lucio: "A great result"

MILAN - Lucio partnered Samuel in defence against AC Milan and the South American pair made sure there was no way through for Pato and co. "It was a very difficult match," the Brazil captain told Inter Channel. "We defended well and attacked with great efficiency. I almost scored but for me defending is what counts most. We didn't concede any goals tonight and we did everything very well.

"I'm very happy with the derby result and now I have another very important match against Argentina. It's a very important South American derby, there's a great rivalry. We know that Argentina are in a tricky situation so it will be delicate match for them, but we're hoping Brazil can come off the pitch with a good result."

Maicon: "Compliments to all the boys"

MILAN - Maicon was up and down the right wing like an express train against AC Milan and the Brazilian capped his performance with Inter's third goal in added time at the end of the first half.

"I'm happy with what I did this evening but I'm not at top strength," said Maicon, who was voted Sky Sport Italia's man of the match. "I have to work more to get to that one hundred percent that I need to have a good season.

"I'm pleased with this evening, we earned three important points. In the first fifteen minutes we got a few passes wrong that we usually don't, but after that we played a wonderful match. We played a great game and we know that it might not be the same in another match but the important thing is always to get the three points. Compliments to all the boys."

On his debut, new signing Wesley Sneijder looked as if he has been playing for Inter for ages. "All the great players do well when they arrive at a new team," said Maicon. "He did well. We are happy for him."

Thiago Motta: "A goal for the team"

MILAN - Thiago Motta finished off a superb move to see Inter on their way to a 4-0 win over AC Milan at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

"I'm pleased because I scored a great goal, but most of all because it was the result of the team's work," said the Brazilian midfielder. "I did well in the area but I have to compliment all my team-mates because they built an amazing move.

"Sneijder? All the great champions are capable of playing well in their first match, and he did. We all wanted a good match, we wanted to start the championship in this way with a 4-0 win away to Milan. This win certainly gives us confidence and optimism, but we can still improve and we work every day to do this."

Thiago Motta, who celebrated his 27th birthday on Friday, added: "I couldn't have wished for a better present, but the real present was the team's victory, not just my goal."

Juara bertahan Serie A Internazionale Milan segera mempublikasikan rencana pembangunan stadion baru dengan kapasitas 60 ribu penonton.

Acara peresmian rencana megah itu akan disampaikan dalam pertemuan Sponsor's Sports Venue di Muenchen, Jerman, hari ini.

Menurut kabar, Inter sudah menggandeng konsultan pembangunan stadion Nicholas Gancikoff sebagai kepala proyek. Gancikoff pula yang akan berbicara dalam pertemuan di Muenchen soal pentingnya stadion dalam kesuksesan sebuah klub di Eropa.

Bersama Gancikoff, juga akan bergabung Wakil Presiden Sportfive, Ulrik Ruhanu, Wakil Presiden Sponsor's Sport Venue untuk 2012 Thomas Speck dan wakil dari kantor pengacara Chancellery Arnecke Siebold, Michael Siebold.

Stadion pribadi Inter, yang belum diberi nama itu, akan memiliki kapasitas tribun VIP berisi 150 kursi dan 5.000 kursi kelas corporate.

Menurut rencana, stadion itu akan selesai dibangun pada 2014 dan diharapkan bisa mendukung Italia untuk menjadi tuan rumah Euro 2016. Kendati demikian belum diketahui di daerah mana stadion akan dibangun dan berapa dana yang dianggarkan. (Hdn/Eurobiz)

MILAN - As planned, José Mourinho has given his players three days off after the victory over AC Milan. Inter will resume training on Wednesday with an afternoon session. When the players report back to work, the Inter coach will be without the fifteen players who are away on international duty.

Inter will train on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday ahead of Saturday's friendly match against Swiss side Lugano, to take place at the Stadio Cordaredo in Lugano (kick-off 17:30).
