Google Chrome v2.0.169.0 Beta

The latest v2 Beta release of Google Chrome.

Google Chrome is a browser that combines a minimal design withsophisticated technology to make the web faster, safer, and easier. Ithas one box for everything: Type in the address bar and get suggestionsfor both search and web pages. Will give you thumbnails of your topsites; Access your favorite pages instantly with lightning speed fromany new tab.

Google Chrome is an open source web browser developed by Google.Its software architecture was engineered from scratch (using componentsfrom other open source software including WebKit and Mozilla Firefox)to cater for the changing needs of users and acknowledging that todaymost web sites aren't web pages but web applications. Design goalsinclude stability, speed, security and a clean, simple and efficientuser interface.

Security:

• Sandboxing
  Every tab in Chrome is sandboxed, so that a tab can displaycontents of a web page and accept user input, but it will not be ableto read the user's desktop or personal files. Google say they have"taken the existing process boundary- and made it into a jail". Thereis an exception to this rule; browser plugins such as Adobe FlashPlayer do not run within the boundaries of the tab jail, and so userswill still be vulnerable to cross-browser exploits based on plugins,until plugins have been updated to work with the new Chrome security.Google has also developed a new phishing blacklist, which will be builtinto Chrome, as well as made available via a separate public API.
• Privacy
  Google announces a so-called incognito mode claiming that it "letsyou browse the web in complete privacy because it doesn?t record any ofyour activity". No features of this, and no implications of the defaultmode with respect to Google's database are given.
• Speed
  Speed improvements are a primary design goal.

Stability:

• Multiprocessing
  The Gears team were considering a multithreaded browser (notingthat a problem with existing web browser implementations was that theyare inherently single-threaded) and Chrome implemented this conceptwith a multiprocessing architecture. A separate process is allocated toeach task (eg tabs, plugins), as is the case with modern operatingsystems. This prevents tasks from interfering with each other which isgood for both security and stability; an attacker successfully gainingaccess to one application does not give them access to all and failurein one application results in a "Sad Tab" screen of death. Thisstrategy exacts a fixed per-process cost up front but results in lessmemory bloat overall as fragmentation is confined to each process andno longer results in further memory allocations. To complement this,Chrome will also feature a process manager which will allow the user tosee how much memory and CPU each tab is using, as well as killunresponsive tabs.

User interface:

• Features
  Chrome has added some commonly used plugin-specific features of otherbrowsers into the default package, such as an Incognito tab mode, whereno logs of the user activity are stored, and all cookies from thesession are discarded. As a part of Chrome's V8 javascript virtualmachine, pop-up javascript windows will not be shown by default, andwill instead appear as a small bar at the bottom of the interface untilthe user wishes to display or hide the window. Chrome will includesupport for web applications running alongside other local applicationson the computer. Tabs can be put in a web-app mode, where the omnibarand controls will be hidden with the goal of allowing the user to usethe web-app without the browser "in the way".
• Rendering Engine
  Chrome uses the WebKit rendering engine on advice from the Gearsteam because it is simple, memory efficient, useful on embedded devicesand easy to learn for new developers.
• Tabs
  While all of the major tabbed web browsers (e.g. Internet Explorer,Firefox) have been designed with the window as the primary container,Chrome will put tabs first (similar to Opera). The most immediate waythis will show is in the user interface: tabs will be at the top of thewindow, instead of below the controls, as in the other major tabbedbrowsers. In Chrome, each tab will be an individual process, and eachwill have its own browser controls and address bar (dubbed omnibox), adesign that adds stability to the browser. If one tab fails only oneprocess dies; the browser can still be used as normal with theexception of the dead tab. Chrome will also implement a New Tab Pagewhich shows the nine most visited pages in thumbnails, along with themost searched on sites, most recently bookmarked sites, and mostrecently closed tabs, upon opening a new tab, similar to Opera's "SpeedDial" page.

Active Desktop Calendar is fully customizable calendar features notes,tasks, alarms, and displays its data on your desktop through blendingwith existing wallpaper. You can organize your data in layers and sharethem with other people on a local area network. The program canintegrate with Outlook and show its appointments and tasks on thedesktop. Yahoo Messenger is a well known name in Instant messenger category. After Windows Live Messenger it will be Yahoo Messenger to take position in favorite messenger list of users. Latest Yahoo Messenger available for download is Yahoo Messenger 9.0.0.2034.

Today while going thru Mininova Torrents I came across Yahoo Messenger 10 Final Torrent and I was totally surprised to see this since I am aware of latest Yahoo Messenger version which is 9.0.0.2034 and there is no news of Yahoo Messenger 10 under development. But then I thought this could be leaked Yahoo Messenger build.

To confirm myself I started searching on Google and I saw couple of websites showing Yahoo Messenger 10 Final in search results, but most of the website in search results were warez one so it is difficult to believe this is true Yahoo Messenger 10 or some thing else, at the end to satisfy my curiosity I started downloading Yahoo Messenger 10.

Once I finished downloading Yahoo Messenger 10 first step I did was, install and check Yahoo Messenger build version. To my surprise it was “Yahoo Messenger For Vista Preview 2007.12.06.421”. Even shortcut for Yahoo Messenger on desktop says “Yahoo! Messenger for Vista”

Yahoo has stopped development of Yahoo Messenger For Vista preview and only available Yahoo Messenger for Vista is Yahoo Messenger 9. It should be noted that last build number of Yahoo Messenger for Visa Preview was 1.2.1.1046.

But this Yahoo Messenger 10 raises some doubt whether its truly Yahoo Messenger 10 or its Yahoo Messenger for Vista Preview and if it’s Yahoo Messenger for Vista preview then why it is showing different build number (2007.12.06.421) then the last Build number (1.2.1.1046 Beta).

Please Note : I am running Windows XP SP2 with Vista Transformation Pack so I am not sure Whether Yahoo Messenger For Vista Preview can be installed on Windows XP or not but this claimed Yahoo messenger 10 is working perfectly fine on Windows XP.
