The heroes of Kazakhstan
The national team returns after a glorious win of the world championships and is being celebrated by everyone. This comparison is a bit flawed, but somehow like this you could describe the arrival of Os|One in Kazakhstan after the DTS-Cup. Fans with ... and after that Os|One went with a limousine through the city. An article about the heroes of Kazakhstan!
If you name the country Kazakhstan, many would connect it with the famous movie "Borat". Mostly nobody knows that there are also people who play DotA on a professional level. Os|One has completely proven that. Ravens and Kingsurf.int were the big favourites of the tournament. Nearly nobody thought that the Kazakhs could win the cup. Even though they are completely unknown in Europe they could beat several top teams, including Ravens and Ks.int, and in the end they won the DTS-Cup - well deserved.
Reasons enough for their fans to organize an gorgeous party for them. With many signs they waited for the arrival of their idols. In the end Os|One drove with a limousine through the city to celebrate their victory.
Spoiler untuk Some Photos :
Before fragster releases an interview with the champions, we asked some players and scene experts about the DTS-Cup and its winner.
Did they know Os|One before?
Why were they so strong?
Which influence does that cup have on the overall DotA ranking?
dmZ|Schug: I thought Ks.int would rape all and Ravens would get second because they played without Maelk. Ks.int was missing one player and Ravens is kinda weak without Maelk because PusHer and Smiske usually can only play support and gank. Furthermore it is very difficult to play against teams you do not know, especially regarding picks and bans. You might also underestimate the enemies because you think about yourself you are number one in the world. In my opinion Ks.int still remains #1 in the world, after them Ks.cn. But overall such a ranking is ********. The most games are decided due to daily performances if the skill gap is not too high.
R`ThePlaymatE: I did not expect the tournament to come out like that. I guess the key of Os|One were the same strategies in picking and playing with synergy. Underestimation and cockyness is bad and karma is a *****! The ranking in the world has been always unpredictable. Worldwide it's hard to tell who remains among the ones at top since the great planet earth is so big and people play DotA all over the world. I think world ranking is impossible without tournaments such as ESWC.
Ravens`MaNia: I did not watch their replays from the qualifier, only heard that some guy was using same nick as yamateh! I knew there were many skilled teams at the tournament, so I am very satisfied with second place. They were strong because they had really high team spirit and they were also picking strong heroes. Plus their overall skill is high as well. They played in a 180 team qualifier, so I was sure that they would have to be good to get the spot. Moreover it's a good practice playing that many games in Lan together. We just have to watch how they will do in future tournaments. I Have not seen them in any online tournaments before. There is a big difference between Lan and online games, since Lan tournaments got so many games played in a few days, which makes a big influence in the way you are picking. At the DTS-Cup we were picking together, since we were lacking our ingame leader maelk.
TLT|MiSeRy: I didn't know Os|One before. I recognize some of their nicks, but I did not know the team. It was really unexpected. It is hard to say why they were so strong. It is a lot of difference between Lan events and online games. On Lan there is much more preasure on you. There are a lot of people watching, a lot of noise and in general many details that can cause a team to play better or worse. If you take a look at online gaming, it might be hard for people in Kazakstan to actually play without having massive spikes or delay. I do not know this for sure, but this could be the reason why they are better on Lan. I still think Ks.Int, Ravens and EG are top 5 in the world. But you can not deny the fact that Os|oNe actually won every single match at DTS-Cup, so of course the world ranking is more unpredictable and unstable now. I do not think you can say now that the result of DTS Cup has any impact on the rankings. Except if Os|One can perform like they did in Ukraine.
[F_]m3w: I actually knew the team before the event because a friend of mine is very familiar with them but I never imagined what they are capable of. Sure Ks.Int and Ravens couldn't play with their A-rosters. Nevertheless this victory of Os is great for them as well as the whole DotA scene. They showed an impressive art of teamplay what brought them the deserved win. They are used to play at Lan and know the conditions there much better than the European teams, because Os always trains in a Net cafe. So they had a big advantage at start and with every win they got more and more motivated and willing to bring the trophy home. With the attention of this DTS-Cup victory they may get the possibilities to attend further events and we may see them in an online-tournament. But overall this weekend proofes that there are a lot more teams out there that can compete with Ks.Int and Ravens. I hope we will see them again in future, so there won't be always Ks.int, Ravens battling for the titles.
Tt|Alex: I didn't know Os|One before. I thought that Ks.int or Ravens would win the tournament. It can happen pretty fast that you get outpicked or outlaned. Like that you can lose very fast as well. They are playing on a skill level where they can compete with top teams. At this state the daily performance is very important. I think Ravens and Ks.int could have won a Bo3 against Os|One and I am no fan of those rankings. There are too many top teams and out of the best ten teams every team can beat each other.
1dota|Dread: As I know Os|One is a kinda new team, but they trained hard before DTS, so they deserve that, but actually I didn't expect it. In my opinion they are a good team, but not good enough to be top 1. There wasn't the full roster of Ks.int and preferable ravens roster. Furthermore Os|One had pretty easy playoffs actually. They are around Top15 I think. As we know by looking the replays from DTS-Cup they abused one strategie; with this great roaming middle and noone tried to not let them play this.
dmZ|eQuiNOX: I knew two player of them (Stalcat and Virtuous), with who I played some games in high-level-room, but nevertheless their performance suprised me. You have to say that their enemies always let them pick good lineups, such as two times Undying together with Kunkka and so on. You can't definatly say yet, if they're going to play an important role in the international scene. There are always big hypes around those teams and they will have to prove if they can compete constantly. But you could see that they got the skill and that you have to take them serious if you want to stand a chance.
Ks^KuroKy: Like all other teams I didn't really know Os|One. And especially that was its strength. I know, that they trained offline every day and watched a lot of replays. You don't have to play against European teams to know how they play, because there are enough replays. I really didn't underestimate them, especially on LAN Russians and Asians are pretty strong. I think that Os|One got a little lucky and the next time it will be much harder for them to play that strong. Now you know how they play and which heroes they like to use, mostly because they used the same strategies to some extent. The playstyle and heroes were always designed for team fights. They had a similar play and pick style like the old SK.
Ks^Miracle: Without Levent I kinda expected the outcome of the tournament. Os|One had good synergy within the team with nice teamplay and motivation.
