Pakistan - know about it
Today we bring to you how the DotA scene works inPakistan. It's not an unknown country by many, but not so many knows the national leagues and its importance to their players. So, that's why we won't talk about ESWC, WCG, SOFTEC, etc.
There is an annual event organized by LUMS university, one of the best in Pakistan. They organize the event named LAGAN (LUMS Anual Gaming Arcane Nationals), held in Lahore, and the teams come from all over the country. They stay in dormitories in LUMS during the three days of competition (two days for DotA), and the winner takes home the prize of PKR 45.000 (about $560 dollars). This is the best LAN event there, since on-line events always fails in attracting attention.
It's the most important national event, where the best teams face each other. In the middle of so many, we have three teams which deserves some attention: These teams are TW, spider and s3x.
Their play style is unique, inspired on European game; but they are Asians and still follows some of its characteristics. It means that Pakistan is a good place to find some high skilled players: amartnt (ex-Dignitas) and Anthraxx, pointed as one of the best in Pakistan, are just two names among many. Most of them are vouched on IDEC, and you can check how they play by watching this replay or this replay.
We went after Anthraxxx, and he talked to us about DotA in Pakistan. Here follows what he said:
Dota in pk is poor when compared to the international scene. Although we have some players good enough to play competetively at that level, most players in Pakistan need serious improvement! The approach towards the game is still very immature with high concentration on farming and less importance given to teamwork! There are many leagues on ggc, they can improve by playing there, and if they play vs higher skill teams they can improve alot
When asked about LAGAN, he said:
LAGAN is the best tournament of pakistan. This year teams from all over pakistan (every single team) particapted!
We hope you enjoyed this arcticle, next week you will find more about another country. We would like to thank maaz139 for his support and Anthraxxx who talked to us. And before closing this page, give your opinion: What should be the next country to be explored? We count on you!
