    They're just a local dialect, derived from formal English.

    Singlish is widely used tho, especially in an international forum, so it's not hurt in trying to understand it a bit.

    But that liao liao things is starting to piss me off... --"

    hahahaha.. liao liao things right.. yeah, i hate it to..lol

    British English sounds better.. just like an earlier post said, it has Elegant accent..lol
    but we(Indonesian) rarely speak English in our environment..
    maybe we should make a gathering somewhere someday..
    must be cool if all of us talking english @ non-English places..lol

    ps : its nice to have an English community here(and i'm just realize it..lol)

    What's so hard to understand about Australian accent? I didn't even notice the difference between Australian accent and American accent.

    Scottish, British and Irish accent on the other hand... not to mention unique asian accent like singaporean or indian.

    i prefer British.
    because i like their accent.
    and also IMO British English, the word and the way their speak more polite rather than other English.

    Well in my english course, you have to speak english everytime you have a class. Not to include higher levels which I'm in, we have to use british accent everytime.

    well it's not too distinct...but f you listen real carefully you will hear a difference or two.

    british accent is pretty sexy to me...but kinda hard
    american lots of culture in mix

    agree, i prefer american because i already used to it too.. but i do want to learn british style.. Imagine when Harry Potter speaks, it shows how educated he is.. Wasn't it? haha

    if you're talking about accent
    i love how mexican talk in english (spanglish eh?)
    the women are way too sexy when they saying things in english
    and the men look very cool (macho?)
    i've tried to imitate how they speak and failed

    does that mean it is hard to imitate them? i'll pay attention to how mexican speaks next time.. but i guess it was really exotic, i mean the way they speak.. ^^

    I prefer American, because it is much easier to be learn.

    But in fact, I speak like Singaporean English because I speak English to a lot of Singaporean, and the way they speak influence me.
