From Stars to Idol
It is a common belief that one of the top North American teams, Canada Pokerstars, is sponsored by one of the biggest poker companies in the world. The truth is that this team led by
Hassan 'JohnnyUtah' Bahr was never sponsored, the Pokerstars tag is merely because of the team's mutual love for poker.
Today, ex-Pokerstars is proud to announce their new sponsor, PokerIdol. As a debut to this sponsorship, PokerIdol will be sending their new DotA team to SMM Grand Finals in Malaysia. PokerIdol will be one of the three Western teams participating in SMM along with MeetYourMakers and DTS to take on the Asians in late November.
Statement
Hassan 'JohnnyUtah' Bahr, PokerIdol team leader:
" We would of course like to thank PokerIdol for their sponsorship and support, as well as giving us the opportunity to attend the most prestigious DotA tournament of the year. Their site offers a great selection of short-handed cash games, and we will be playing poker exclusively on PokerIdol. As for SMM, we hope to represent North America well and take the fight to the Asian teams on their home turf. Last but not least we would like to extend our thanks to our manager ZexTar. This sponsorship would not have been possible without his help. "
Unfortunately due to passport issues,
Filip 'Fanat1c' Boguszewski will not be attending the SMM Grand Finals in Malaysia. In his place the team has brought in
Jimmy 'Demon' Ho of Evil Geniuses, who will be attending SMM with PokerIdol in Fanat1c's place.
