Default [INTERVIEW] LongDD, xMusica, GK (resurected) for SMM

    Musica: There is nothing personal

Hi Musica, do you mind giving a brief introduction of yourself and your team that are going with you to Malaysia?

I'm Justin, mostly called the hag, and my team that's going to Malaysia will be Banks, Shatan, Toneeh and Chawy - our newest addition.

It appears that MCiTY has had several roster changes recently and Escobar is now rarely seen playing, what happened to him?

Well, prior to SMM, Esco came home with news saying that he broke his collar bone, thus we began a frantic search for a new addition that will be replacing for him for that period.

So he's still part of the team?

Yup. He is still part of the team and hopefully he'll be able to return after his collar bone is fully healed.

An inside source also said that Banks has left or will be leaving the team after SMM. Is this true?

    That is not confirmed.

MCiTY has attended 2 LAN tournaments now, the Asian World Cyber Games and Gamescom. In both events, MCiTY has surprised the world with some interesting hero picks and combinations, like your initial use of Undying (before remade) during WCG Asia. Do you have anything special planned for SMM?

Maybe, maybe not. But I believe that every team has something prepared for their opponents and we can only see during the actual SMM event itself!

A few months ago, MCiTY attended Gamescom in Germany where the team managed to place third against other European giants such as MYM and Fnatic. Do you think the Europeans and Americans have realistic shots at taking down the swarm of Asian teams at SMM?

After playing for a long time, I've come to believe that over confidence is the downfall of every team. So I think that everyone has an equal shot and we will not under estimate any team that attends SMM. This is just my personal opinion I guess. It might not be the same for everyone else.

In your recent Farm4Fame match against MYM, there was a huge delay issue and a huge argument ensued. Are you looking to get back at MYM on LAN?

Absolutely, this is gonna be our second LAN tournament and we would be really excited and honor if we're able to compete with the world's best.

    So there's nothing personal?

    Nope, there is nothing personal.

How big is the difference from playing on a host bot and playing on LAN?

It's probably like a 0.2-0.6 sec delay difference depending on the host bot, but its definitely more advantageous to play on LAN as we're able to communicate better and see where each other are without typing too much.

The WCG Grand Finals recently finished in China, where we saw thousands upon thousands of fanatical spectators swarming around their gaming idols. Do you think that SMM will be the DotA equivalent, and if so, are you worried that you'll be zerged by a bunch of crazy Malaysians that want your photo or an autograph?

We wouldn't know until we see it for ourselves, but Shatan and Toneeh have probably got their shirts ready for their Garena fanboys that they've been adding daily

Considering that you performed extremely well while you were still with Zenith in ESWC 2008, do you personally think that you will stand a bigger chance if you have stayed with them instead?

It always feels better to achieve with something that you've worked hard from scratch then given the opportunities already! Although that we won ESWC together, I personally feel more comfortable with my Australian team as we've been playing together for a long time and its quite fun being around them.

Who do you think will place in the top three, and do you think there are any dark horses that may be put in the spotlight at SMM?

The top 3 would be anyone ranging from Ehome, cD, CH, Cybertime, AEON.sg and hopefully us. And while I don't know all 64 teams that are attending SMM I'll probably say that we might see some surprises this round

    Any shout outs then?

Shout outs to MCC for sponsoring our SMM trip and to N for being such a good and responsible sponsor!

    MCiTY Roster:

    • Shatan
    • Banks
    • Toneeh
    • Musica
    • Chawy

    LongDD prepares for SMM

With less than a week to go until SGNDT commences, SGamer.com sat down with legendary Chinese player, Longdd for a pre-event interview.

Hello Longdd, Thanks for taking the time off for this interview. Why don't you introduce yourself first?

Hello everyone. I'm Longdd from City Hunter.

SMM is just around the corner. What are your thoughts about this tournament?

SMM is a very high quality event, it also has many teams competing in one event. I have been looking forward to this event the whole year.

You must be busy preparing for SMM?

Indeed, we have been training ever since IEM finished. I believe all participating teams are training hard for it.

What are you currently focusing during your training practises?

First, we prepared a lot of different line-ups and get use to the different play styles we're going to use. Finally, we start analysing our opponents a few days before it starts.

SMM will be using the 6.64 version of Dota. There may not be much difference between 6.63 and 6.64, but still there are a few. Are you guys experimenting with new line-ups for this version?

We have been playing using 6.64 for a while now, so yeah we have been preparing a lot using this version. During last year's SMM, it was clear that my team CanT was not prepared enough. We lost because we ran out of line-ups to play with when we reached the finals. This wont happen again this year.

There are a lot of strong teams playing at this year SMM. Who do you think will be your strongest opponent? Are you confident at emerging as champions?

I would prefer if we don't play against cD as their playstyle is a big headache to counter. As for the other teams, EHOME has always been a very strong team, showing great performances at major offline events. I don't really see any other international teams as a threat. China for life!!!! As for the championship, we have absolute faith in taking the championship.

Who do you wish to go up against in the Final match? The Europeans or Asians?

Of course Asians, especially any China team. Europeans brag too much. I must support hyhy, Asians are better than Europeans.

Do you hope to face-off against strong opponents during the early stages of the tournament or the later stages?

It'd be best at the later stages as we have more of a chance to get used to it.

At every major offline event, there will always be some teams that will use a particular playstyle and ultimately change the playstyle of other teams. What will you be at this year's SMM?

Indeed, this always happens. At every major offline event, a particular team will change how another team plays. We will adapt to their playstyle or ban their core heroes.

What have you prepared for the audiences and your fans at this year's SMM?

The championship and my winning smile. I don't want to see people celebrating while I am crying.

I suddenly feel that LDD is very cute! At this year's SMM, what are you most looking forward to and what are you least looking forward to happening?

Looking forward to feeling as champions on stage and less looking forward to crying off stage.

LDD is feeling cuter and cuter. Have you shared any secrets with your teammates? Like how to reduce stress.

I told them what Snoy told me before; before a match close your eyes and think of all the great times and imba moments, it will give you the feel of the game.

    Final Shout outs!!!

Thanks to CityHunter for sponsoring us. Anyone from ChengDu please come to City Hunter cyber cafe to have a game or two.

EHOME.GK: We want to face KS

Ehome are widely regarded by compatriots and fans alike as one of the hot favorites for the SMM competition nearing next week. As defending champions, Ehome have no guaranteed claim to the title and retaining their title will not be an easy task as the shape of the scene has changed significantly; older teams that were at SMM last year have disbanded, while new teams have risen and proven their mettle amongst the elite.

Ahead of the competiton, Sgamer has sat down with China Ehome.GK in a exclusive interview regarding preparations and thoughts about SMM, and his feelings concerning a certain team along the way. myMYM has the translated version of the interview for you below.

Hello, I am a journalist from Sgamer. Thank you for accepting my interview. Do you mind introducing yourself?

Hello everyone, I am EHOME.GK. It's been a long time since I was approached by a Sgamer journalist and I am very happy for this interview.

As we are nearing SMM Grand Finals now, what do you think of the tournament?

I think SMM would be a pleasant trip.I hope I can enjoy an international tournament such as this.

How are the preparations for SMM?

We have only started preparing on the 15th of November. So far so good.

Wow 15th. That is not a lot of time at all. Are you focusing the training on anything specific?

This is classified information. I do not wish to disclose this critical information to our opponents.

Since this tournament is using version 6.64 which is not exactly different from 6.63 but still, there are differences there. Are you guys testing or experimenting with any new strategies?

This is a must. It's only been a few days into the tournament and we have already perfected our playstyle to suit this version.

This year, there are many strong teams participating in this tournament. Who do you think will be the toughest opponent and do you think you guys will win again?

I envy XtC because this team is always playing a fool during training but they perform extremely well in tournaments. And for me, getting a championship title is no surprise anymore but we are talking about a huge load of cash prize here. As for our confidence, our training is the only thing we can rely on now and mind you, EHOME's training method is very professional. This will explain why we always win.

Who do you want to meet with in the final? European or Asian team?

We want to face KS in the final as we have always thought that KS is the strongest opponent. We met them in last year's ACG and SMM but they always seem to have trouble getting into the final.

Do you want to face a stronger opponent early or later in the tournament?

I think that each team has their own playstyle and show promise of winning the tournament. Commonly in a huge tournament like this, any small mistakes will contribute to the loss. So whether it is early or late, we will put heavy concentration on our plays.

In every major LAN tournament, there is always a team that shows their adaptation to a certain playstyle and later on, affect the playstyle in general. Who do you think will be this particular team?

I think that we will be the one that will be creating new playstyle. I mean there are a lot of crucial changes in this version especially to Phase Boots. At first, we have some difficulties adapting to this version mainly due to the fact that we were using a turtling playstyle. But mind you, EHOME is a team that creates many new strategies. We do not only accept ideas from others, we change it too.

What can the fans expect from EHOME this year?

We wish to display a flawless performance to all our fans this year. If you are confident in EHOME, EHOME will be returning with a miracle performance.

In this year's SMM, what do you wish to experience and what do you wish not?

I hope that the weather is not as harsh this year and have more greener food. The last time we went to Malaysia, it was 38 degrees Celcius and we ate McDonalds and KFC for a few days. I think that China's chicken taste better than the ones in Malaysia or Singapore. I do not look forward to play against my fellow countrymen since they are very prepared to go against us.

The EHOME team has participated in quite a few events before this. Do you think this has affected the team in any way?

It won't be. EHOME is very professional and we can perfect our playstyle with just 10 days of training. I really think that the long hours of training does not matter because it takes up the toll in the players' body. Over the last two years that I was a professional players, the training time has always been short but it is really something.

Recently, EHOME has lost a few training games against domestic teams. Is that alarming or shocking for you?

Of course but failures always assist us in helping to get our spirit and confidence back. Prior to training, I have always hoped that we fail so that we can discuss things at a much faster rate. I have to thank all the teams that have beaten us the first two days but on the third day, we have already gotten our form back and we are still moving forward.

This is the end of the interview. Any last shoutouts?

EHOME is the true champion. It is because the five of us are always willing to sacrifice ourselves during crucial moment to come up with a win in the tournament. Much thanks to all our sponsors, Gigabyte, Intel, Razer, Kappa and E-space Cyber Cafe for providing our training gear and place. At the same time, we hope that more sponsors can provide us with better gear. Thanks.
