Musica: There is nothing personal
Hi Musica, do you mind giving a brief introduction of yourself and your team that are going with you to Malaysia?
I'm Justin, mostly called the hag, and my team that's going to Malaysia will be Banks, Shatan, Toneeh and Chawy - our newest addition.
It appears that MCiTY has had several roster changes recently and Escobar is now rarely seen playing, what happened to him?
Well, prior to SMM, Esco came home with news saying that he broke his collar bone, thus we began a frantic search for a new addition that will be replacing for him for that period.
So he's still part of the team?
Yup. He is still part of the team and hopefully he'll be able to return after his collar bone is fully healed.
An inside source also said that Banks has left or will be leaving the team after SMM. Is this true?
That is not confirmed.
MCiTY has attended 2 LAN tournaments now, the Asian World Cyber Games and Gamescom. In both events, MCiTY has surprised the world with some interesting hero picks and combinations, like your initial use of Undying (before remade) during WCG Asia. Do you have anything special planned for SMM?
Maybe, maybe not. But I believe that every team has something prepared for their opponents and we can only see during the actual SMM event itself!
A few months ago, MCiTY attended Gamescom in Germany where the team managed to place third against other European giants such as MYM and Fnatic. Do you think the Europeans and Americans have realistic shots at taking down the swarm of Asian teams at SMM?
After playing for a long time, I've come to believe that over confidence is the downfall of every team. So I think that everyone has an equal shot and we will not under estimate any team that attends SMM. This is just my personal opinion I guess. It might not be the same for everyone else.
In your recent Farm4Fame match against MYM, there was a huge delay issue and a huge argument ensued. Are you looking to get back at MYM on LAN?
Absolutely, this is gonna be our second LAN tournament and we would be really excited and honor if we're able to compete with the world's best.
So there's nothing personal?
Nope, there is nothing personal.
How big is the difference from playing on a host bot and playing on LAN?
It's probably like a 0.2-0.6 sec delay difference depending on the host bot, but its definitely more advantageous to play on LAN as we're able to communicate better and see where each other are without typing too much.
The WCG Grand Finals recently finished in China, where we saw thousands upon thousands of fanatical spectators swarming around their gaming idols. Do you think that SMM will be the DotA equivalent, and if so, are you worried that you'll be zerged by a bunch of crazy Malaysians that want your photo or an autograph?
We wouldn't know until we see it for ourselves, but Shatan and Toneeh have probably got their shirts ready for their Garena fanboys that they've been adding daily
Considering that you performed extremely well while you were still with Zenith in ESWC 2008, do you personally think that you will stand a bigger chance if you have stayed with them instead?
It always feels better to achieve with something that you've worked hard from scratch then given the opportunities already! Although that we won ESWC together, I personally feel more comfortable with my Australian team as we've been playing together for a long time and its quite fun being around them.
Who do you think will place in the top three, and do you think there are any dark horses that may be put in the spotlight at SMM?
The top 3 would be anyone ranging from Ehome, cD, CH, Cybertime, AEON.sg and hopefully us. And while I don't know all 64 teams that are attending SMM I'll probably say that we might see some surprises this round
Any shout outs then?
Shout outs to MCC for sponsoring our SMM trip and to N for being such a good and responsible sponsor!
