Koala: We want to go swimming!

It was announced this month that Farand 'Koala' Kowara was back in action and would be playing for Axis.Dota. However, he is not going to be attending SMM with Axis, instead team Avava along with Aryanto 'Lakuci' Sony.

myMYM caught up with Koala for a pre-SMM interview to talk about the team, Avava, and its players. Koala said that the players were chosen "after series of tough trainings" and goes saying that "Lakuci aka the bad man asked them to leave their former team and join us."



Hi Koala, the last time we heard from you, you guys were retiring. Why are you guys back now? Retirement wasn't your style?

We announced that before we disbanded, Veleno has gone back to his home country and we lost our passion to the game. Ritter and Bahamut on the other hand wanted to start working. So only me and Lakuci is left and we were actively finding 2 or 3 more players to continue playing local events. We did not exactly retire.

Your team is pretty unknown in the competitive scene at the moment. Do you mind giving a brief introduction of your teammates and the role they play?

Easy: Carry
Mokmok: Ganker
noobz-_-: Support
Koala: Carry
Lakuci: Ganker

How did you choose these new players?

We selected them after a series of tough trainings. When it seems that the teamwork is working out, Lakuci aka the bad man asked them to leave their former team and join us.

Are your old teammates such as Ritter, Bahamut and Veleno still playing?

No they are not playing anymore at all.

You guys will be participating in SMM. What or who convinced you guys to register?

At first we did not have any intention to go to SMM but we were convinced by an Indonesian businessman, that say he will support us all the way and sponsor us to go to SMM. The company is Avava.

Lakuci is known to be the pioneer for Lanaya although it didn't really last long and now she is somewhat a frequent pick. What do you think about this?

Well yes, Lakuci used Lanaya a long time ago because of her imbalance ulti (free wards) but after that, Icefrog has decided to nerf her and Lanaya is not as strong as she used to be. When 6.64 arrived, the gameplay changed a lot and Lanaya is popular once again because she matches the gameplay.

Back in the days of XCN, you guys used to be the team that pioneered a lot of creative picks like Meepo. Will we be seeing another new cute hero in SMM?

Erm yeah we have a lot of cute heroes. Just wait and see (Smiles)

As reported a few weeks ago in myMYM, you and Lakuci will be joining Axis after SMM. What will happen to your current team? Will you reconsider if you really do win SMM?

If we really do win SMM, then "maybe" Avava will be willing to sponsor us permanently. Since we have not receive an contracts from Axis at the moment, we'll try to sort that out as soon as possible. Regardless, I think we will still join Axis.

Why have you guys decided to join a Singaporean team than a local team?

This is probably because Indonesia lacks sponsorship for eSports while Axis has some of the world‘s biggest sponsors behind them.

How excited are you to finally play the European teams on LAN considering that you used to play in 2 seconds delay against them in Prime Defending League.

Yes, without a doubt. We are extremely excited to face the Europeans without any delay or spikes and obviously we will try to gather enough confidence and spirit to go against them since we do not usually get the chance to face them in LAN events.

Who do you think will place top 3 in the tournament?

In no specific order, Cybertime, EHOME and MYM

When are you guys arriving in Malaysia. Will you only be there for the tournament or for sightseeing too?

Of course sightseeing too! We want to go swimming! Are there any tournaments there? We are going to Malaysia just to swim! (laughs)



Are you flying or are you rowing or perhaps swimming to SMM?

We are doing a triathlon for this. First we swim, then we row and then we just glue some feathers on our back and we will fly.

For a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being epic, how would you rate SMM promotion so far?

I will give SMM's effort a 10. It's all good.
