It's quite impossible ( although I know this is a what-if situation ) to English become the main language of our nation if you consider the quality of English speakers in Indonesia. AFAIK, in some rural areas in our country, there are minor groups that can't even speak Bahasa Indonesia.
The best possible solution is make it like South Koreans do , make English as their second national language, which makes English as compulsory subject taught in schools while Korean language is still intact and is still the main language

AFAIK is As Far As I Know ..

I think it's impossible because every country has their own language and their own cultures so if we change our primary language we might as well change our nationality into Americans..

We're Indonesians and we should be proud of our country.. English language is an International language and it's important for us to learn and practice it but I don't think we should change our main language.. We sometimes misused our own language, we mix it with english or sometimes not using the proper word.. Even other countries now are learning our language and that is something that we can be proud of.. is that our country attracts many foreigners and countries that is curious of our diverse cultures.. so be proud of our country and do whatever we can to show other countries that our country isn't a country that could/should be underestimated..

maybe you can see the country called singapore,

it doesn't has it's own language, it's collaborated from english, melayu and mandarin..

so you can hear the accent is very funny and also adding "laa" to the last sentence..

    etc.

    long time no see laa..

Lol.. a lot of people will argue about this case.. haha.. surely, I agree with JasonBlake.. there are no country who use English language in whole daily life

origin people, take a look on Java or Kalimantan, and the other citizen in different island I think they will be hard to learn new thing because they have their own language

FYI, now Indonesian is used by some countries in Southeast Asia as second language like Vietnam.

So, we have to proud with our language..

I suppose it's possible, it all depends on our future generations. Singapore is a good example. It's a country so keen on progress that english just became natural for them.
In some schools around jakarta, they are trying to integrate english into day to day studies. Sometimes they even have international classes taught by foreigners from all round the world.
imo Indonesia would be better off if everybody just started speaking english. But of course it be a shame if no one remembers how to speak bahasa.

Our Language - Bahasa is what makes us Indonesian. Other language such as English, Chinese, Italian, African, and many more are just helping tools for us to either study abroad, speaking with foreign people, or to make business. That's all.

i will completely disagree with english as our mother tongue, a language is a country's identity, changing our language means changing our country's identity

so how about sundanese, javanese, bataknese language..
you can not change our pure region language, just because of english as first international language.
These region language came from thousands years ago!

Willing to be an international predicate country could be realized by enhancing our english in school, improve education policy, etc.
    but not change our language.

when you loose your language, you loose your identity.

About singapore, basically, they are founded by melayu and english (daendels).
