    Counter Strike

Counter-Strike (commonly abbreviated to CS) is a tactical first-person shooter video game which originated from a Half-Life modification by Minh "Gooseman" Le and Jess "Cliffe" Cliffe. The game has been expanded into a series since its original release, which currently includes Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, Counter-Strike: Source, Counter-Strike: Anthology and Counter-Strike on Xbox. Counter-Strike pits a team of counter-terrorists against a team of terrorists in a series of rounds. Each round is won by either completing the mission objective or eliminating the opposing force. The latest incarnation of the game, Counter-Strike: Source, is based on the Source engine developed for Half-Life 2.

The game is almost entirely based on the dynamically streamlined multiplayer experience activated via Steam, and is currently the most played Half-Life modification in terms of players, according to GameSpy.[1]

Counter-Strike was developed first as a Half-Life modification. Therefore named "Half-Life: Counter-Strike." The original version was a 3rd-party Half-Life modification, but since then it has grown into a commercial mod and later advertised as separate game in itself. It still uses and runs on the Half-Life game engine and is based on its unchanged structure.

    Version history

On 24 March 1999[verification needed] Planet Half-Life opened its Counter-Strike section. Within two weeks, the site had received 10,000 hits.

On June 18, 1999, the first public beta of Counter-Strike was released, followed by numerous further "beta" releases.

On April 12, 2000, Valve announced that the Counter-Strike developers and Valve had teamed up. Counter-Strike 1.0 was released around Christmas 2000.

    * 1.6 – 15 September 2003 (released with Steam)

On January 25, 2003, a world wide competition was held by Valve and hosted by Dell. Numerous Dell desktops and laptops were awarded in the competition which attracted over 10,000 participants. The competition was held over a two week period, with the winner ("b0b") being announced on February 15 on Valve's website.[citation needed]

    Condition Zero

    Main article: Counter-Strike: Condition Zero

In 2004, Counter-Strike: Condition Zero was released. It contained a single player campaign and bots, as well as other changes.

    Distribution and service

    Sierra

When Counter-Strike was published by Sierra Entertainment/Vivendi Universal Games, it was bundled with Team Fortress Classic, Opposing Force multiplayer, and the Wanted, Redemption and Firearms mods."[3]

Steam and the WON gaming service

Counter-Strike was originally played online through the WON gaming service, which was shut down in 2004,[4] forcing players to switch to Steam. The non-Steam version of Counter-Strike (version 1.5) can still be downloaded from sites such as FilePlanet.[5] Due to the closure of WON, part of the player community responded by creating their own WON network, dubbed WON2.

    Addition of in-game advertising

In March 2007, Valve implemented mandatory advertisements through Steam in official maps and in the game's GUI overhead. Customers have expressed frustration with the ads, including an over 200 page thread on Valve's official forums, saying that they violate original terms of service and distract from the game.[6] The thread was later deleted by an unknown moderator.

    Counter-Strike Online

    Main article: Counter-Strike Online

As of February 2008, Counter-Strike Online is only available in South Korea and is now in open beta test. Counter-Strike Online It is being developed by Nexon Corporation with oversight from license-holder Valve Corporation, and is an attempt to increase market share of Valve's games in the Korean gaming market.

Counter-Strike is a first-person shooter in which players join either the terrorist or counter-terrorist team (or becomes a spectator). Each team attempts to complete their mission objective and/or eliminate the opposing team. Each round starts with the two teams spawning simultaneously, usually at opposite ends of the map from each other. A player can choose to play as one of eight different default character models (four for each side, although Counter-Strike: Condition Zero added two extra models, bringing the total to ten). Players are generally given a few seconds before the round begins (known as "freeze time") to prepare and buy equipment, during which they cannot attack or walk/move (a player can still take damage, having the player drop from a certain height during freeze time was the only way somebody could control the players starting "HP"). They can return to the buy area within a set amount of time to buy more equipment (some custom maps included neutral "buy zones" that could be used by both teams). Once the round has ended, surviving players retain their equipment for use in the next round; players who were killed begin the next round with the basic default starting equipment.

Standard monetary bonuses are awarded for winning a round, losing a round, killing an enemy, being the first to instruct a hostage to follow, rescuing a hostage or planting the bomb.

The scoreboard displays team scores in addition to statistics for each player: name, kills, deaths, and ping (in milliseconds). The scoreboard also indicates whether a player is dead, carrying the bomb (on bomb maps), or is the VIP (on assassination maps), although information on players on the opposing team is hidden from a player until his/her death, as this information can be important.

Killed players become "spectators" for the duration of the round; they cannot change their names until they spawn (come alive) again, text chat cannot be sent to or received from live players; and voice chat can only be received from live players and not sent to them (unless the cvar sv_alltalk is set to 1). Spectators are generally able to watch the rest of the round from multiple selectable views, although some servers disable some of these views to prevent dead players from relaying information about living players to their teammates through alternative media (most notably voice in the case of Internet cafes and Voice over IP programs such as TeamSpeak or Ventrilo). This technique is known as "ghosting".

    Culture

Counter Strike is famous for the culture surrounding it, which includes everything from professional gamers and leagues, to excessive cheating and disruptive behavior. Certain professional teams (such as SK Gaming, alternate aTTaX, Team-Avtomat Kalashnikov, mousesports and fnatic) have come to earn a living out of it, while other clans and community based groups neither lose nor earn money via member donations which are self sustaining in return for administrator rights in servers involved in the community.

    Legacy

Counter-Strike remains extremely popular to this day. There are currently professional online leagues supporting Counter-Strike, such as the Cyberathlete Amateur League (CAL), and CyberEvolution, a pay-to-play league. Various LAN tournaments are held throughout the world, with the largest being the Cyberathlete Professional League (CPL), the Electronic Sports World Cup (ESWC), the World e-Sports Games (WEG), and the World Cyber Games (WCG). Championship matches in these events are televised with commentary and analysis.

Half-Life and other contemporary games took full advantage of hardware graphics acceleration in the late 1990s, replacing earlier software-rendered games such as Quake. The continued popularity of Counter-Strike has meant that older video cards such as the 3dfx Voodoo3, ATI Rage 128, and Nvidia RIVA TNT2 remain useful.

There have been a multitude of games claimed by their developers, reviewers and fans to be "Counter-Strike killers," but none have seriously been able to dent its overall popularity.[citation needed] Server statistics in 2002 showed that Counter-Strike servers outnumbered their Battlefield, Unreal Tournament 2003 or Quake III first-person shooter counterparts at least 3 to 1.[7][not in citation given]

However, as criticism of Condition Zero showed, the GoldSrc engine has already been surpassed by several generations of newer engines. Even Counter-Strike: Source has been criticized for not progressing the gameplay enough and failing to take full advantage of the Source engine.[8]

    Mods and scripts

Though Counter-Strike is itself a mod, it has developed its own community of script writers and mod creators. Some mods add bots, while others remove features of the game, and others create different modes of play. Some of the mods give server administrators more flexible and efficient control over his or her server. "Admin plugins", as they are mostly referred as, have become very popular (see Metamod, AMX Mod and AMX Mod X). There are some mods which affect gameplay heavily, such as Gun Game, where players start with a basic pistol and must score kills to receive better weapons, and Zombie Mod, where one team consists of zombies and must "spread the infection" by killing the other team (using only the knife). There are also the Superhero and Warcraft III mods which mix the first-person gameplay of Counter-Strike with an experience system, allowing a player to become more powerful as they continue to play. There is also a Star Wars mod, where you get a lightsaber instead of a knife, have special abilities according to a starwars character, also receive a rank based on the U.S. military ranks, and the objective is to capture the flags. The game is also highly customizable on the player's end, allowing the user to install or even create their own custom skins, HUDs, sprites, and sound effects, given the proper tools. Also some mods have a feature called rollthedice, where something bad or good happens to you when you type rollthedice.

    Cheating

Counter Strike has been a prime target for exploitation by cheaters since its release. In-game, cheating is often referred to as "hacking" in reference to programs or "hax" executed by the user.

    Typical cheats are:

    * Wallhacks, which allow the player to see through walls. These work by altering the display driver to display objects that are normally obscured, or altering game textures to transparent ones. The only objects seen on the hackers screen are those close by. The server will not send you characters of the whole map, so you can not see across the whole map.
    * Speedhacks, which give the player increased speed. These work by sending false synchronization data to servers.
    * No recoil, which keeps the players gun shooting straight on the y axis without a kickback by removing gun physics. No spread is used to make a players gun shoot straight along the x axis.
    * Aimbots, which helps the player aim at enemies. These work by moving the player's view to anticipate an enemy's position.
    * ESP, which shows textual information about the enemy, such as, health, name, and distance, and also information about weapons lying around the map, which could be missed without the hack
    * Barrel hack, which shows a line that depicts where the enemy is looking
    * Anti-flash and anti-smoke, which remove the flashbang and smoke grenade effect. This branched off the wall hack.

Valve has implemented an anti-cheat system called Valve Anti-Cheat (VAC). Players cheating on a VAC enabled server risk having their account permanently banned from all VAC secured servers.

With the first version of VAC a ban took force almost instantly after being detected, and the cheater had to wait 2 years to have the account unbanned[citation needed]. Since VAC's second version, cheaters are not banned automatically. Rather, they are banned according to a delayed banning system, and bans are permanent. Many cheats are still not detected by VAC, and often the only effective anti-cheat solution is a human administrator watching an online game. VAC, while being effective in some ways, has also provided a boost in the purchasing of private cheats. These cheats are updated frequently, as to prevent detection, and are available to those who pay to use them or to those in the community or clan.

The game faced controversy in April 2007 when lawyer Jack Thompson predicted that the perpetrator of the Virginia Tech Massacre had been trained to kill in the game, well before Seung-Hui Cho (the shooter) was identified.[citation needed] Thompson claimed the game "Drills you and gives you scenarios on how to kill them [and] gets you to kill them with your heart rate lower." Riley Donelan rebutted by saying "How can a game teach you how to lower your heart rate in real life, these claims are ridiculous.[citation needed] It is important to note that Seung-Hui Cho is only supposed to have played it in high school, this information has not been confirmed as it was told by only a few acquaintances from school.[9] Thompson's answer to this was "You don't drop it when you go to college, typically."[citation needed] Also the game does not include tutorials or training missions. Also Jack Thompson has not been able to put forth any solid evidence about his claims. Jack Thompson also blamed Counter-Strike for February 14, 2008 for the Northern Illinois University shooting perpetrated by Steven Kazmierczak.[10]. Thompson claimed in an interview that "You can rehearse these type of massacres on simulators which are called video games and you can...therefore made more proficient in doing this."[11]. He explains that "Counter-Strike Half-Life" was the game Seung-Hui Cho, the perpetrator of the Virginia Tech Massacre trained on in High School, suggesting that the behavior of the NIU shooter had the same sort of training.[citation needed] Thompson went on to say that "In real life, Kazmierczak - who had become "erratic" recently after shunning medication for an undisclosed illness - purchased weapons like those used in Counter-Strike, including a Glock handgun and a pump-action Remington shotgun, which he bought legally on Feb. 9."[citation needed]

On January 17, 2008, a Brazilian federal court order prohibiting all sales of Counter-Strike and Everquest and imposing the immediate withdrawal of these from all stores began to be enforced. The federal Brazilian judge Carlos Alberto Simões de Tomaz, of the Minas Gerais judiciary section, ordered the ban in October 2007 because, according to him, the games "bring immanent stimulus to the subversion of the social order, attempting against the democratic and rightful state and against the public safety".[12][13][14][15]

    Article] Eliminate the sniper

Snipers are very hard to take out for three reasons. They are already in position looking down one avenue of approach of their enemy, they are sometimes in pairs, and they have a long range advantage.

There are three ways to counter a sniper. Rush them with your teammates, out snipe them! Or even better go around their position to sneak up behind them.

To take out a sniper you should know how to snipe well yourself that way you will understand a snipers point of view. Snipers have a hard time successfully taking out the enemy at close range for two reasons. They switch to their pistol which takes a second and has less firepower. Secondly they have to take more carefully aimed shots.

So, if you are going to rush a sniper you should bring an autoshotty, submachine gun, or a handgun. This way when you get close enough to the sniper you will be able to mow them down quickly while they have to switch weapons or take slower carefully aimed shots than you. Now getting close to the sniper is the hard part. If you decide to rush the sniper by yourself your crazy; and you probably won’t be successful. If you rush with your team you might stand a chance; but why leave anything to chance. Make sure all the teammates that are going to rush actually rush. So buy a flash and a smoke. Chuck the smoke in the snipers line of fire (or your entrance into an open area). This will coerce more of your teammates to rush the snipers since they are less likely to be hit. After that smoke is flowing throw long well aimed flash, do not blind your teammates, then rush. Make sure that you strafe left to right and also zig zag in an unpredictable fashion. Before you know it you or your teammates will be close enough to take out the enemy with a light weapon like a submachine gun.

Then there is out sniping the sniper. Get an AWP get close to where the snipers line of fire is likely to be. Quickly jump out and nail them. Jumping is one of the best techniques because it makes you a harder target and it won’t disturb your aim. Now if there where 2 or more snipers there you are out of luck. Since snipers might be hanging out in the same area it may be extremely difficult to out snipe them. On the other hand you think there is only one sniper in a location and you can do it go for it.

Last and the funnest way to take out a sniper is to sneak up behind them. You should always follow a rush team, but you will have to go off on your own in the end. Simply go around the sniper and when you get close to their position watch out for rear security, or other teammates camping the area, a good gun to bring is a silenced weapon if you can. Remember a good sniper will periodically check their back so be careful when approaching a sniper from a distance. Once you are close to the sniper you have the upper hand two times over. Most of the time they are engrossed on waiting for that kill so that gives you the opportunity to humiliate them by knifing them. Everyone on the oppisite team will greatly appreciate it and give a good response

A Lil guide on "GOING PRO"

I found this guide over the net iand i think its quite good so here it is,enjoy!

    "Learn to be a PRO!

I have been in Counter-Strike since Beta 6.1 around 6 years ago and I have learned a lot of things over the years. I will point out a few commonly known Counter-Strike tactics that will give you at minimum a positive ratio all the time, which is what will bring you up to the rank of "Hacker" in the CS community.

    <code>SUMMARY:
#1 - Aim Focus, Look with your Mouse! (Updated)
#2 - Recoil Control and Burst Fire
#3 - Use Headphones and Adjust Your Volume
#4 - Standing Still when Firing!
#5 - Constant Movement and using Popping!
    #6 - Shoot Through Walls and Pre-Fire!
    #7 - Stay Calm
#8 - Take the Shot, Then ask Questions (NEW!)
    </code>

The term "Hacker" is not to be confused with a <red>Cheater</red>. Hacking requires skill. <red>Cheating</red> is downloading a script and pretending you wrote it or something. Cheating is degenerate for your ability to play CS well, it makes you try NOT to look like you're cheating, rather than trying to get better at CS in general. Cheaters don't understand the difference between the two, so they just rely on "<red>Google hacks</red>", or "<red>Downloaded skill</red>" so people will call them Hackers too! I hope you understand now. Another example is, I didn't copy paste this article, I'm writing it from experience, because I'm a not a cheater.

To learn how to play like a pro, you need a fairly good computer on Cable or DSL internet, and about 4-8 hours a day to play Counter-Strike. No, I'm not exhaggerting; pros play a minimum of 4 hours in a scrimmage or practice, and public server junkies (a.k.a. Pub Nubs, you know, the guys who join random servers all day and call everyone else newbs compared to them) play in pubs a good 8 hours a day.

#1 - Aim Focus, Look with your Mouse!
Use your Mouse to look around, not your eyes. Don't leave your crosshair sitting around! Try to never move your head or eyes away from your crosshair, just stare as dead center in the crosshair as you can for 5 minutes, and you will begin to automatically focus on your aim and the crosshair disappears. You can use peripheral vision to see anything outside of the crosshair. Anyone who doesn't constantly stare thru their crosshair will suffer in score and enjoyability. It will definately improve your headshot ratio and ability to stay focused.

It is assumed that you know this stuff. This is meant to outline the importance of each skill one at a time for everyone.

#2 - Recoil Control and Burst Fire
Controlling your weapon will help determine your accuracy and general kill ratio. Recoil control is the key to killing efficiently. When firing a bullet from a rifle, push down on your aim ever so slightly (depends on your sensitivity) to counter-act the effect of the gun's recoil. Each gun has its own specific rate of fire and power level. I will go over the 2 most commonly used rifles in Counter-Strike, the AK-47 and the M4A1 Carbine.

AK-47 should be treated like a baby. You should rarely use full-automatic with this gun, unless you're about to meet "Allah" at the Pearly Gates. The AK-47 is extremely powerful and has a lot of kickback. You need to push down on your aim to control the recoil more than the Carbine. For the most part, you should fire 1 or 2 shots at a time.

M4A1 can be used with great accuracy in 1-2 shot bursts, and you can mow down a rushing crowd with 6-10 bullets as long as you keep push down on your aim to counter-act the recoil. Using the surpressor (or silencer) on this gun will effect your long range weapon accuracy, so only use silencer when being stealth is above all, or you are in fairly close quarters (especially good when flanking from behind!)

A Double-Tap is when you fire 2 bullets in a burst and they both travel directly into your enemy's chest and head. This will kill anyone almost instantly, even if they have full armor and helmet. To successfully Double-Tap, you should aim for the upper chest of your target and ONLY fire 2 shots at a time clearly and carefully. Instant Kill, or else the target is nade material.

Now you actually HIT your target rather than just holding down your fire and hoping for the best. This is when people start saying you have an "Aim Bot".

#3 - Use Headphones and Adjust Your Volume
(preferably high to medium-high volume) so that you can hear enemies approaching through walls, and from behind you. This can be considered a "wallhack" to newbs because they don't understand that pros listen more often than they aim! After you are comfortable with gun fire, the sound of your gun will go into the background and you will be able to focus on other players footsteps! Also, when spamming through a wall with a rifle or deagle, you can hear if shots are hitting your enemy!

Now you are almost considered a "Hacker", please continue...

#4 - Standing Still when Firing!
When strafing, or running sideways, try to stop perfectly still before firing your gun. This is a very tricky skill that requires perfect timing. You strafe to one direction, lets say you are running to the LEFT while aiming forward toward an enemy. Tap the RIGHT strafe button for about half a second or more, then fire.

To help you get better at the timing of it, try moving LEFT and then RIGHT and then LEFT. You will see how long it takes in between you pushing the other direction, and you actually coming to a stop, then moving. You will get a perfect aimed shot and it can appear as though you are still moving once you perfect this skill.

It also helps when you combine this skill with #5 - Popping.

#5 - Constant Movement and using Popping!
You might ask yourself, "Why did the enemy kill me so quickly?" If you buy your new gun and then you go out to own, but find yourself dying quickly or you seem to automatically type: "Fu**ing g*y!" I have a solution for you.

Constant Movement is what keep CS players alive, especially in Public Servers. In a match you might NOT want to move all the time, but rather prepare for an assault, but it depends on the situation. Constantly moving, AND walking when you want to be stealthy and quiet will drastically improve your score. Campers do sometimes get 11-3 scores, but it takes them twice as long as someone who is constantly moving through the maps. When you move into a new room or area of the map, focus your crosshairs on the most likely camping spots, one spot at a time and in order of appearance. This will help you own all the campers!

Popping is quickly look around a corner or looking over a box without jumping. To do Popping you simply tap DUCK for a half second while you're standing infront of a box you can almost see over. On awp_map people Pop over the spawn wall to see where people are, without jumping and exposing too much of their head.

Combining this skill with great aim focus will make you a pro. Movement is just as important as any other skill here.

    #6 - Shoot Through Walls and Pre-Fire!
I know people will be calling you a hacker when you get kills through a wall, and you will get a rush and likely start laughing about it. Killing thu the wall does NOT require <red>cheating</red>. When you listen to an enemy running through the wall, prepare yourself to engage and begin walking or stop moving entirely. When hearing footsteps, aim through the thin or medium thick wall or door so that the sound is IN BALANCE! This means that the volume is equal from left to right which also mean you are aiming directly at the target. Pre-firing is shooting through a wall just before popping out around it to surprise your enemy. Pre-Firing 2-3 bullets, then moving out can be extremely effective as a distraction just before you pop-out to kill your enemy.

This is when they call you a "Wallhacker".

    #7 - Stay Calm
It is overlooked a lot, especially by a lot of pub players, but remaining calm in a tight situation will help improve your ability to make sound decisions. Instead of running out into the open when you are getting shot at, you will instinctively look for cover, rather than over-reacting. This will save your life at least 50 percent of the time.

#8 - Take the Shot, Then ask Questions
Let's build a theoretical setting here, where you are using the AWP and you are aware that an enemy is coming toward you from around a corner. Using #7 Stay Calm, simply move your crosshair body level thru the edge of the wall and fire when the sound of his footsteps is balanced right to left in your headphones. Now, FIRE! Don't think: 'Sh** is this bullet actually gonna plow through this wall and hit the target?' No. You aren't supposed to think. You're supposed to kill, and stay focussed on the kill. Shoot, and quickly switch to your sidearm ( deagle or usp) and finish off your stunned opponent. Now spray his corpse with your custom spray. This is about the time when you reach true "Hacker" status, and the result?

You can now post in forums about how you got banned for being a LEGIT KILLING MACHINE!

Once you perfect these skills, don't be a "Pub Nub" forever! (Yes, I am still a Pub Nub, and a League player, I keep it balanced) Go PRO! Its a whole new game, much more enjoyable at times, and at other times more hard to deal with because you can't just quit or leave the server.

BE STRONG, always! Ignore people trying to hold you down, its just a stupid mentality and you have to lower yourself to their level, and that in itself is stupid. "

Pls note this guide IS NOT written by me and i'm just sharing it as its rather good.Peace Out and Merry X'mas and a happy new year to all

The M4A1 is a bit pricey at $3100, and don't forget you'll need a little extra for ammo. The 30 round clip is pretty standard. The ROF of 685 rounds pre minute translates to 11.4 per second, meaning full auto will empty a clip in 3 seconds.
So how's the M4 stack up with Damage? Here are the results from a damage calculator I found online:

    UNSILENCED
    30 feet 150 feet 299 feet
    No Armor/Armor No Armor/Armor No Armor/Armor
    Head 124 87 112 78 100 70
    Chest 31 22 28 20 25 18
    Stomach 38 27 35 24 31 22
    Legs 22 22 20 20 18 18

Like all rifles, the M4's damage holds up well over range. Armor is not much of a deterrent either, absorbing at most an average of 9 points of damage to the body. As you can see, the M4 is a one-headshot-kill at any range with no kevlar. Here are the details for a silenced M4:

    SILENCED
    30 feet 150 feet 299 feet
    No Armor/Armor No Armor/Armor No Armor/Armor
    Head 124 87 108 76 88 62
    Chest 31 22 27 19 22 15
    Stomach 38 27 33 23 27 19
    Legs 22 22 19 19 16 16

As you can see, damage starts to drop off over range when silenced. According to the damage calculator, the range when damage is affected starts at 105 feet. The damage doesn't drop off much. And as a matter of fact, if your intended target is that far away from you, you probably won't need the silencer anyway.

    ACCURACY:
Some websites I have visited claim that the M4 is more accurate with the silencer attached. Here are my shot groupings labeled accordingly:

    M4 UNSlienced

    M4 Silenced

In my humble opinion, all the silencer does is stabilize the weapon a little. I got tighter groupings unsilenced, as many of my bullets landed right on top of the other. Silencing the M4 produced broader groupings, but were still accurate to the center of the target. I have noticed I get more headshots in-game with the silencer, but this may be due to the fact that the silencer spreads the shots out just a tad more.

    Bursting:
Recoil for this gun is HORRIBLE. Just as bad as the AK. When firing the M4, even at close range, ALWAYS fire no more then a 3-4 round burst, unless you have silencer on. The first two rounds will hit right on top of the other. The third and fourth will start to climb, usually in the area of the head/neck. Most of my shot groupings were two shot bursts (the most accurate) On the rifle range, a three round burst, (if the third shot doesn't go left or right) will hit the head. If your a noob like me, aim for the chest and fire a 3-4 round burst. If your a Pro, aim straight for the head and fire a two round burst. (you will need two rounds to penetrate Kevlar.) I tried compensating for recoil on longer bursts, like I do with SMG's, and the results weren't any better. Stick with the three round burst. Also, i noted that this weapon has a very fast recovery rate with a two round burst (faster then an AK) Basically, When you fire, and see the brass eject, stop firing. By the time the last shell hits the ground, the M4 has recovered from the recoil. The M4 can fire accurate two round bursts faster then a FAMAS can do 3 rounds on burst setting. As a matter of fact, you can most likely get 4 rounds in the same spot, within the same time limit of the FAMAS's three roud burst setting. However, the FAMAS on burst setting produced tighter groupings, even at long ranges.

    Final Thought:
The M4 is a great gun for the money. You get good damage, high accuracy, and consistancy. Just don't go Rambo and fire on full auto and you'll be owning in no time. I have only one complaint about this gun. THE IN-GAME MODEL IS TERRIBLE!!! I mean, come one, the ejection port IS ON THE WRONG SIDE!!!!! Do you really want brass flying in your face while firing a gun!?!?! Those shells do come out rather hot you know...

    SUMMARY:
Pro's - Good damage, accurate, consistant, available silencer
Con's - fairly expensive, high recoil after third round, INGAME MODEL SUX!!!!!

    AK47

The terrorists might have an advantage here. For 2500$ you can get yourself one AK-47. The AK is the classic Terrorist weapon. AK47 can be summed up in one word. LOUD!!

The AK fires powerful 7.62 ammo, and has a ROF of 600 rounds per minute (which is 10 rounds per second) and will empty a clip in 3 seconds. In game it is a little slower, taking just over 3 seconds, so the buy screen is pretty accurate. The muzzle energy and velocity are high, so this gun will shoot through MANY objects. The 7.62 slugs will rip anyone in two. Here is the damage chart. Figures taken from a damage calculator:

    30 feet 150 feet 299 feet
Unarmored Armored Unarmored Armored Unarmored Armored
    Head 140 108 132 102 120 92
    Chest 35 27 33 25 30 23
    Stomach 43 33 41 32 37 29
    Leg 25 25 24 24 22 22

As you can see, the AK is a one-head-shot kill to an unarmored head at ANY range. If you’re a CT, and you don't have a Kevlar, it’s GG to you. Even against armor the AK holds up very well, even at long range, only absorbing around 9 points of damage to the body. AK users should note however, that 178 feet is max range for one-head-shot kill. 179 feet will do 99 damage, so if your target is farther away and armored (more likely than not) be sure to fire twice.

How accurate is the AK? EXTREMELY accurate. How's the recoil? EXTREMELY high. Check out my mini-guide below here to check out how to control the AK's recoil.

The AK spray pattern is pretty random. USUALLY it will go up in a straight diagonal line, either right or left, and then swoop back horizontally the opposite direction and go back and forth, forming a "7". However, sometimes it will go up in an "S" pattern. I didn't notice the recoil ever going up in a straight line, but I'm sure that is possible too. What about short bursts? Well, if you fire 2-3 round bursts, and pull down a tad with your finger after the first shot, you can land all three shots in the target. Even when adjusting using this method, your third shot will rise, but that can be a good thing. At long ranges this can lead to a head shot.

Given the AK's damage and accuracy, I'm going to advise something I haven't advised so far on any weapon. Always Aim for the Head. If you fire a 2-3 round burst at them, you only need one shot to the head to kill them, at any range (unless they have a helmet) All you have to do is pretend you have a semi-automatic rifle, instead of an auto (I sometimes wish the secondary fire would set it to semi) and aim carefully for head/chin/neck. You only need to be stationary for a short period of time, and if you only fire one shot, it doesn't take long for your aim to auto-recover from the recoil.

    Summary:

Pro's = EXREMELY high damage, even over range/accurate as 2 shot bursts/VERY cheap (especially if you consider that CT's almost always buy a defuser, which sets them back another 200$)

Con's = Recoil is very high… correction extremely high, you'll need some practice with this one/ Very loud. People will hear you from almost anywhere on the map, so don't try to be stealthy.

The AK is the most popular choice for T's, and some CTs even drop their M4's for an AK. That being said, you do need to keep in mind the recoil is high, and difficult to spray at medium to long range. Bursting is a better choice, and if only for the sake of me not sounding like a total noob, always aim for the head. The M4 has the advantage of being stealthy.

Gratitude to 8ball for some information given here. Sorry about the bad graphics... i'm not good in fixing them.... also if you can't read the words in the graphic properly... i apologise...
