High Priority
Melador Valestrider/Erin Misthoof
- Barkskin
- Nature's Grasp
- Thorns
- Lifebloom
- Nourish
- Regrowth
- Tranquility
If present, this druid should likely be your first kill target. Her HoTs heal for very large amounts, and she is very hard to keep from healing due to being immune to many forms of CC and have such powerful instant cast abilities. It is absolutely critical that, while this druid is alive, you have someone dependable purging/dispelling her Lifeblooms off of the current kill target ASAP before she can stack them, as well as someone set on the druid herself to interrupt any Regrowth/Nourish/Tranquility casts.
If there is another target you think needs killing faster, and you have a good warlock, it is possible for them to use Fear and Banish in rotation to keep her CCed for a bit at the beginning of the fight so something else can be killed first. Just make sure that your warlock has good protection from the DPS NPCs.
Anthar Forgemender/Caiphus the Stern
- Psychic Scream
- Dispel Magic
- Penance
- Mana Burn
- Power Word: Shield
- Flash Heal
- Renew
This healer should also be a top priority if present, because his heals are powerful, and his Dispel Magic and Psychic Scream are a hindrance to the effectiveness of your raid. Make sure you have raiders good at interrupting assigned to him, and make sure others are dispelling Renew/Power Word:Shield off the kill target while this priest is alive. If you are unlucky enough to get both the restoration druid and the holy priest, prioritize whichever your raid has fewer means of controlling.
Irieth Shadowstep/Maz'dinah
- Blind
- Cloak of Shadows
- Shadowstep
- Blade Flurry
- Haemorrhage
- Eviscerate
- Fan of Knives
The rogue is the most dangerous of the DPS NPCs. He should die as soon as you've killed off enough healing to burn him quickly. For some raids, it may even be best to kill him before the high priority healers, if you have strong means of keeping them under control. While alive, he will bounce around your raid, killing your cloth wearers in 1 or 2 hits, Blinding your healers, and using Fan of Knives to interrupt multiple casters at once. Kill him as fast as you can if he is among your opponents.
Note: Most raids will find that it is useful to burn the hunter's cat and/or the warlock's felhunter right after high priority targets are dead, because the nuisance they present to your raid is quite significant compared to the time it takes to kill them. Rarely, the NPC's will resummon their pets, but usually they do not, especially if kept distracted via CC or someone in your raid actively attacking them.
Medium Priority
Shaabad/Broln Stouthorn
- Heroism
- Earth Shock
- Lava Lash
- Storm Strike
- lays totems very quickly: Windfury or Grounding; Strength of Earth or Tremor; Healing Stream; Searing or Fire Elemental These have 5HP; everyone in the raid should just auto-attack them at every opportunity. Be especially vigilant about destroying Tremor Totem as it will break your raid's attempts at CC.
The kill priority level for this shaman depends a bit on your raid's composition, but in general it is usually a good idea to kill him as soon as possible after high priority targets are dead. If you have a good death knight that can Death Grip/Chains of Ice kite him, or someone else who thinks they can keep his attention, it is possible to bump him down on the priority list. If you don't, make sure everyone knows to be aware of where he is and run away from him until he switches targets; and also make sure they know to kill him as a higher priority.
Kavina Grovesong/Birana Stormhoof
- Barkskin
- Cyclone
- Entangling Roots
- Faerie Fire
- Force of Nature
- Insect Swarm
- Moonfire
- Wrath
- Starfire
This balance druid is among the most annoying DPS NPCs, and he does quite significant burst damage, making it important to kill him as soon as possible and try to keep him CCed until he can be killed. Because of the limited forms of CC that can pin down a druid, he won't stay CCed long, so be sure to prioritize accordingly. Be sure to dispel as many of his DoTs as possible, and keep someone on him that can interrupt Roots/Wrath/Starfire, any time he is not CCed.
Saamul/Thrakgar
- Earthshield
- Hex
- Cleanse Spirit
- Heroism
- Earth Shock
- Lesser Healing Wave
- Rip Tide
- lays totems very quickly: Windfury or Grounding; Strength of Earth or Tremor; Healing Stream; Searing or Fire Elemental These have 5HP; everyone in the raid should just auto-attack them at every opportunity. Be especially vigilant about destroying Tremor Totem as it will break your raid's attempts at CC.
This restoration shaman is quite a pain as well, but is less of an immediate threat than the holy priest or restoration druid. Even after you've killed both of them (or if they weren't among the NPCs you face), you should be able to CC/interrupt this shaman long enough to kill high priority DPS targets (and maybe even other medium priority DPS targets that seem like they might be problematic for your raid) first instead of him, which adds quite a bit of survivability to your raid. Remember to still have someone set on interrupting the shaman while it is alive, someone dispelling any Riptides he puts on the kill target, and someone set to dispel any Hexes put on raid members.
Noozle Whizzlestick/Ginselle Blightslinger
- Polymorph
- Blink
- Counterspell
- Iceblock
- Frost Nova
- Frost Bolt
- Arcane Explosion
- Arcane Barrage
- Arcane Blast
Keep someone on top of dispelling any Polymorphs cast on your raid, as well as the slowing effects of his frost spells, and this mage isn't too terrible to deal with. If you have an interrupter free, interrupting the mage's damage casts can provide your healers with some breathing room, but in general it's better to just CC the mage or have your raid members just run out of his/her range if the mage focuses on them. Make sure that, once this mage is being killed, your raid's priests watch for Iceblock, and remove it quickly with Mass Dispel.
Alyssia Moonstalker/Ruj'kah
- Call Pet
- Claw
- Deterence
- Disengage
- Frost Trap
- Wing Clip
- Wyvern Sting
- Steady Shot
- Shoot
- Aimed Shot
- Explosive Shot
This hunter puts out quite significant damage if left alone, but, as long as you have a solid rotation of CCers on him, you will be free to focus on other kill targets first. If he does get free of CC, have the raid member he is focused on run toward him, forcing him to Disengage. The time he takes to do so will be enough that someone else can find him and get CC going again. Make sure dispellers are watching the raid to remove the effects of his Frost Trap and Wyvern Sting if he gets a chance to use them. If the hunter's cat is alive, make sure anyone it focuses on kites it as much as possible, as it does hit quite hard.
Low Priority
Serissa Grimdabbler/Harkzog
- Summon Felhunter. This summons Zhaagrym, who has:
- Devour Magic
- Spell Lock
- Fear
- Curse of Exhaustion
- Curse of Agony
- Unstable Affliction 1
- Corruption
- Searing Pain
- Hellfire
- Shadowbolt
Because the majority of this warlock's damage comes from DoTs, it is quite easy to leave him alone until late in the fight, assuming you have competent raiders who can stay on top of decursing. If you don't have a dependable decurser available, bump this warlock up your kill order accordingly. Just make sure that people know to watch for and run immediately out of his Hellfire, because it hits very hard. Also, be sure that all the Tremor Totems available to your raid stay down, to protect as many raiders as possible from Fear.
Brienna Nightfell/Vivienne Blackwhisper
- Silence
- Dispel
- Dispersion
- Psychic Scream
- Psychic Horror
- Shadow Word: Pain
- Vampiric Touch
- Mind Blast
- Mind Flay
The Mana Burn and dispels from this shadow priest are a bit of a pain, but in general she's not much of a threat. Just make sure casters stay out her range as much as is possible, and keep Tremor Totems down to minimize her fears.
Velanaa/Liandra Suncaller
- Divine Shield
- Hand of Protection
- Hand of Freedom
- Hammer of Justice
- Cleanse
- Flash of Light
- Holy Light
- Holy Shock
This Holy Paladin is the least threatening of the healers. As long as you have competent interrupters set on her, your raid should be able to take out all high and medium priority targets (and maybe even low priority DPS targets, if any are giving your raid problems) before moving on to her.
Baelnor Lightbearer/Malethas Brightblade
- Divine Shield
- Divine Storm
- Repentance
- Avenging Wrath
- Crusader Strike
- Hammer of Justice
- Hand of Protection
- Seal of Command
- Judgement of Command
This retribution paladin, along with the Death Knight and Warrior below, are dangerous only if your raid lets them get close. As long as the whole raid remembers that staying alive is the number 1 priority, and runs away from these melee NPCs when targeted by them, they're less of a threat than any of the casters or healers. Do be sure that all available slowing mechanisms (Frost Traps, Earthbind Totem if no more fears are possible, etc.) and any rooting effects (Chains of Ice, Entangling Roots, etc.) are used whenever possible to slow down these melee champions. Also, try to keep them disarmed as much as possible to restrict the damage they can do.
Specific to the paladin, make sure someone is dispelling any debuffs she puts on your raid, and try to make sure your raid has a Mass Dispel available in order to remove any Hand of Protection casts on the current kill target.
Tyrius Duskblade/Gorgrim Shadowcleave
- Icebound Fortitude
- Strangulate
- Chains of Ice
- Death Grip
- Death Coil
- Icy Touch
- Frost Strike
See the general tips for dealing with melee in the above section on Baelnor/Maelthas.
Specific to the Death Knight, make sure all his diseases are cleansed off your raid, and make sure that his target receives lots of healing and as much help as possible getting away, since he has so many means of preventing escape.
Shocuul/Narrhok Steelbreaker
- Disarm
- Sunder Armor
- Intimidating Shout
- Retaliation
- Overpower
- Shattering Throw
- Bladestorm
- Charge
- Mortal Strike
See the general tips for dealing with melee in the above section on Baelnor/Maelthas.
Specific to the warrior, make sure everyone gets out of the way of his Whirlwind, and try to keep him CCed/Rooted as much as possible as he can do quite a bit of damage very quickly if he is allowed to reach any of your less armored raid members.
