Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo suffered a violent crash during a rain-hit second practice at Assen on Thursday afternoon. The reigning World Champion has since been taken to the circuit's medical centre by ambulance with a suspected left collarbone injury.
Lorenzo, who sits second to Repsol Honda rival Dani Pedrosa in the championship standings, was fully coherent after falling from his bike amid the wet conditions, but was seen to be holding his left hand as the medical team arrived on the scene.
If a fracture is uncovered, his continued participation in the event could be under threat.
