Country Project
{Project Brief}

In this series of assignments we’ll look at the different ways ideas can be represented through concept, form, and style.

Objective: Visual and conceptual abstraction; type and connotation; cultural influence; style; composition and space.

You are assigned to create a country of your interest from the existed ethnicity. For this project, you are instructed to create a campaign to promote the country of your interest and conduct the following steps:

1. Research on the selected city and gather information about it. Each student must select one of the ethnicity.

2. Create a mind map using visual image (mood board) size A2-cut and paste images.

3. Apply the generated ideas you have selected and create a collage. The collage must at least contain pictures typography, 5 keywords, item collages, personal photos, and scanned objects and apply it to a mood board to build your concept. For this you must use different types of tools, which may include crayons, markers, digital media, paint, drawing, and computer graphic software.

4. When you are finished with the above task, you must produce 3 different approaches of concepts and come up with one best concept to go on the project.


5. After you have one best concept and a name of your country, create the following projects and steps:
a. The country symbol & flag
{Create an identity for the country}
Step 01: Brainstorm image of your symbol and create 10 thumbnail sketches of symbol & flag.
Step 02: Develop your ideas by explore different ways of developing shapes and images. Try geometric shapes, linear shapes or photographically derived images.

b. 3 series of postcards
{On 15cm x 10xm}
Step 01: Brainstorm images of for the postcards. Create 10 thumbnail sketches. Explore different ways of developing images representing the best interest in the country.
Step 02: Choose 3 best postcard ideas/images. Explore different ways of developing the idea by using different types of media; crayons, markers, paint, drawing, digital media, photography, and computer graphic software.


c. Poster of Visit Our Country
{On A4 printed, mount on white foam board}
Step 01: Brainstorm ideas and fine visual that represent the country.
Step 02: Write a design brief. Define the purpose and function of the poster, the audience, and the information to be communicated.
Step 03: Create 5 thumbnail sketches. Be sure to establish visual hierarchy. Poster can be in vertical or horizontal format.

d. Country currency
{On A2 Poster}
{Create 5 thumbnail sketches}
Step 01: Brainstorm ideas and fine visual that represent the currency for your country.
Step 02: Find ideas and inspirations to create the currency. Create 5 thumbnail sketches. Be sure to establish visual hierarchy. Currency can be in any size you like.
Step 03: Print your currency with chosen paper.


6. Presentation
Present the entire projects in bookbinding, include all the steps-- process of each projects. Please do not loose any of your work.
